In the demo, the Supernova screen was butted up alongside a competing screen with a projected image overlapping both, and contrast measurements were made under ambient light conditions. On the
Supernova screen, there were 1500 nits brightness in the white field and 18.2 nits in the dark area, giving a contrast ratio of 82.4:1. The competing screen alongside the
Supernova screen measured 750 nits in the white field and 52.3 nits in the dark field, giving a contrast ratio of just 14.3:1.
